FLYING PURPLE PEOPLE EATER
Meet the flying Purple People Eater. I bought this truck in 1993. This is very close to what it looked like when I bought it.
I bought the truck in Colorado Springs, hauled it home but didn't start to work on it until 1997. I worked on it off and on until December of 98. My spouse of twenty nine years passed away on December 15th of 98. Work stopped for about six weeks, as I didn't know day from night. I finally pulled my self together and started back to work. I found that working on the truck was a good way of keeping my mind off things.
By this time I had most of the parts sandblasted and painted. Here you see me bending brake, and fuel lines.
Here you can see my handy work. The brake and fuel
are held by rubber lined Adel clamps, and never touch metal from fuel tank to eng. compartment
Next came the engine and transmission. Then the cab went on, and the rest was connecting everything up. Here I am making my first imaginary test drive.
I have found the most fun part of rebuilding an old car, or truck is the part that comes after all the parts have been, cleaned, and painted. Putting it all back together is very rewarding.
The lake at Green Mountain Falls makes a beautiful back drop
I finsihed the truck in May of 99. At least to the point it could be driven. As anybody that has ever been associated with old cars knows that you really never get finished, there is always something else that you want to do.

the engine in this truck is of special interest. It is the Boss 351C from my 1971 Cougar. For those of you that aren't familiar with Ford engines. The Boss 351 had solid lifters, forged dome
pistons, and four bolt mains from the factory. It was quite a well performing small block.
