I bought the Bronco in Denver in 1991. The Bronco was a Bronco Lariat, as with any vehicle that is new or just new to you, you will all of a sudden start noticing other vehicles of the same make and year. I was no exception to this rule. As I started my Bronco watching I quickly noticed that I was not seeing any other Lariat models. Time went on and still no Lariat models, I was only seeing the XLT and the Custom models. I was starting to wonder if I had some special model or exactly what was going on here. I wrote a letter to a friend that worked for Ford Motor Company telling him what I was seeing. He called me back long distance and ask if I would give him the VIN number. I did so and he called me back in a few days telling me that I indeed did have a very special Bronco. He went on to tell me that 1978 was the first year for the big, or full size Broncos, these were the Broncos that looked like a Ford F series pick up from the doors forward. To introduce the new full sized Broncos, Ford built a few Lariat models for the new car and truck show circuit. My Bronco was one of these few. When the Broncos went into full production the top of the line model was not the Lariat as was the F-series Ford trucks, but rather the XLT was the top of the line for the Bronco. My Bronco is very well equipped with all the bells and whistles for that year.
When I was posting these pictures I kept noticing my white poodle Roxie, she seems to have a knack of getting in the picture. |
